THE INTEGRATED TRAINING SOLUTIONS METHOD
|
Both Desperate Measures and Planet Hospitality train service providers to look at their customer and/or guest interactions from the clients point of view.
Deploying a multi-media approach reinforced with workbooks, workshops and tests, this entertaining training method will inform and inspire the entire chain of command, from top management to frontline personnel.
Integrated Training Solutions methods were developed for and tested in a very demanding environment the ski industry.
Desperate Measures and Planet Hospitality were originally conceived for the ski industry, where high sales staff turnover is part of the business model, where experienced is translated as two months and the staff is young with minimal previous work experience of any kind.
Combine those challenges to the high-cost, discretionary nature of the products and the demands of a savvy clientele.
The training works because it is based on the sound principals of:
Developing Skills
The Integrated Training Solutions training method is founded on three fundamental principles:
- The foundation of selling and customer service is based on three primary, learnable skills: Relating, Authenticity and Steering.
- Learning occurs best in a multi-media, interactive environment.
- Employees best absorb and apply skills through an organized mentoring program where new concepts are learned and reinforced in day-to-day customer interactions.
Developing Mentors
What is truly unique is the Integrated Training Solutions emphasis on the client taking control of their own training through a custom, optimized combination of live training, self-guided learning, and mentor development.
The Creators
Jackson Hogen has worked in just about every sector of the ski business, from ski instruction and coaching to product development and training.
A lifelong skier, Hogen parlayed an Honors diploma at Yale into a string of ski-related professions, including retail sales, technical training, consulting, marketing, product development, product testing and journalism.
In this last capacity, he has served as a technical editor or contributor to Snow Country, SKI, Wintersport Business, London Daily Mail Ski and other publications.
Dave Bertoni honed his product development skills supervising international product launches as a senior manager at Salomon while posted at the global headquarters in France.
As a business graduate of the University of Colorado, Bertoni has served as Director of the Ski School at Mary Jane in Winter Park, Colorado and subsequently in senior capacities in product development and new business creation for companies as diverse as adidas-Salomon, Poseidon Technologies (computerized vision systems) and TheBuyersPage.com (Internet B2B portal).
His consulting business, MarketSpace Product Development, serves an elite client list culled from the bio-tech, computer software and industrial materials sectors.

The most successful stores that I have worked with have an organized and professional training program.
It is the most cost effective way of increasing sales.
